Basilio's Italian Cafe

Located right on Main Street, Basilio's is a nice, relatively unknown spot in Pullman. They have a great menu of authentic Italian food to choose from with nice sized portions and very reasonable prices. I had the Old World Lasagna and it went beyond my expectations.

They have plenty of pastas, pizzas, sandwiches, soups, salads and other traditional Italian dishes to choose from. They also have a few Italian beers to compliment the meal.

One more note. I went in about half and hour after the Homecoming football game this year and got a table immediately. There is plenty of room in the restaurant's seating area and they can accomodate large parties.

Restaurant Recommendation: Sangria Grille

Not a place to go if you're trying to save a buck! However, Sangria Grille (located in Moscow) is as good a restaurant as you'll find on the Palouse. This is a great place to go if you want to make eating out your social activity for the night. Rounding up a group of good friends and sharing a meal together can make for some of the best conversation you can have.

Sangria features a fusion menu of food. Meaning they mix tastes and styles from South America, Asia, and the Mediterranean to make up their unique menu. The menu is diverse and features plenty of options: from burgers and steaks, to pasta, to chicken, to a variety of original Sangria entrees. The atmosphere of the restaurant almost makes you forget you're in Moscow, ID, and the service is on another level.

Despite the large meal portions, make sure you save room for dessert too! Sangria's dessert chef is one of the best in the whole Northwest. A good place to go if you need a somewhere nice to take a date.

Palouse Falls Brewing Company

Ryan and I went and spent some time with Jeff and Linda Greene at the Palouse Falls Brewing Company. The company makes four beers all the time, and compliments the selection with a seasonal beer as well. They're located at 1335 SE Bishop Blvd in Pullman and have a full-time tasting room to try their latest creations.

Dad's Weekend Ideas -- Bike Path

Parents coming into town this weekend? Need a good bonding activity? Check out the bike path that runs between Pullman and Moscow. This is a good way to get some excersise, hang out with your parents in a setting where you can still carry on good conversation, and give them a little taste of the Palouse. Interest in music?

A great way to get some relaxation time is to attend one of the many recitals from the WSU Music department.

These recitals are normally 1-2 hours long and feature either faculty or students. These events are a great way to take a break from studying. Also, they work very well for a date.

Keri McCarthy, an instructor in the music school, will preform an oboe recital on Thursday, October 7. The concert takes place in Bryan Hall, a beautiful setting if you've never had the chance to see a show there. It's also free.
You get a good show and the musicians get to preform for people. It's a win-win situation.

Need a good brunch spot?

Whether you're tired of Denny's or just love a really good place to have brunch on the weekends, check out the Breakfast Club in Moscow.  I went their with friends two weekends ago and it was fantastic.  It is a little crowded, but we passed our 20 minute wait by strolling around downtown Moscow for a few minutes.  Once we got seated it was a thing of brunching beauty.  The atmosphere is cozy but not crowded, our waiter and the service in general were great,  and the food was even better.  I had the stuffed biscuits and gravy (with bacon, eggs, and hash browns acting as the stuffing) and it was honestly one of the best brunch dishes of my life.  So if your parents have already experienced Old European, maybe you can show them the Breakfast Club come Dad's Weekend!
